LEWANDOWSKI CALLS FOR QUICK ACTION ON CASINO PERMIT

ROCKFORD, IL- Democrat Dan Lewandowski, candidate for the 34th State Senate seat, is urging Governor Pat Quinn and the state legislature to take swift action to grant a casino permit to Rockford.

A casino is projected to bring hundreds of construction and long-term jobs to the Rockford area, providing much-needed economic revitalization.

“The Governor and the leadership in the legislature need to allow us to do what’s right for the 34th District,” Lewandowski said. “If we don’t act quickly to spur development here, that growth is going to occur in other areas, like Beloit. We need to stimulate our local economy and create jobs in the Rockford area, not across the border.”

“This type of indecision is what has kept our economy stagnant,” Lewandowski continued. “Immediate action is necessary to keep the 34th District strong, and the time to act is now. I call on the legislature and the governor to do what is right for the people of Rockford.”

Lewandowski joins civic leaders and organizations like Mayor Larry Morrissey, the Rockford Chamber of Commerce, the Northwestern Illinois Building and Construction Trades Council, Winnebago County, and the Rockford Register Star in calling for the swift approval of a casino permit for Rockford.
